Jamie smiled back at him, relieved he wasn't irritating Toffee. He'd seen the sudden anxiety earlier, when he'd mentioned feeling threatened and insecure, and he really didn't want Toffee worried about his place in the household or feeling like he had to fight with them. "And of course, we add the basil juuuust before we take it off the heat, like this," he explained, sprinkling and stirring one last time before turning it off and moving it away, portioning out the eggs perfectly evenly. "And we take this, the forks, and the salt and pepper shakers--the ones shaped like milkshakes, over there--to the table with us," as Jamie carried three of the plates and Toffee two, and then Jamie went back for the rest of the tools. Ivannya, Hendrick, and Barba all sat at the table smiling and sipping their morning caffeine, all eager for breakfast.
