Barba watched as Toffee clearly didn't know what to do, and said, "Try it, Toffee--you might like it," and Jamie looked a little taken aback by the total lack of positive reaction, and perhaps a little hurt too. They were used to all of them sharing food once one initiated.

"I'm sure I will." He smiled at Jamie. "Just, still have a lot of my sandwich." But he tried the bite Jamie had given him, and made the soft moan of pleasure he'd learned from Matt.

Jamie still felt a little miffed, but he understood that perhaps Toffee just wasn't used to seeing other pets in the same way, didn't remember to flirt with them too, or maybe he just hadn't recognized the gesture. A part of him felt suddenly very nervous that Toffee didn't actually find the rest of them attractive, but he pushed that insecurity away, and went back to his own fries, smiling despite his feelings. "Do you like the mushrooms? I guessed on those," he said, trying to keep a conversation going.

"Oh, yes, they're delicious, meaty but not too heavy." He moved a bit closer to Jamie, reaching out to hug him, and breaking off a piece of his sandwich to offer to Jamie.

Jamie smiled then, mollified, and ate the bite greedily as if it was the best food he'd ever had. It wasn't, but he was glad Toffee liked him, and then he leaned over and kissed him tentatively.

He wrpped his arms around Jamie's shoulders and returned the kiss.

Jamie leaned in, licking into Toffee's mouth, and he was aware then of Master Erik's hungry, admiring gaze and he shivered compulsively, leaning in further and wrapping his arms around Toffee's waist, moaning under the close scrutiny.

He felt his cheeks heat up, but he leaned into Jamie's embrace, food forgotten, and focused on kissing him and making him feel good.

Jamie shuddered and leaned in, rubbing at Toffee's sides and feeling under his shirt but stopping himself from pushing his hands all the way up, and had to lean back for a second to breathe deeper, control himself from pulling Toffee's shirt off and licking at him until he cried. And then he had to go back and kiss him some more, stroking his hands through Toffee's hair and writhe in his chair a little until there was a loud clatter and he overbalanced and fell backwards suddenly, shattering the mood.

And he fell over right onto Jamie. He pulled back, carefully.

"Jamie, are you okay? Did I hurt you?"

"Mmmrg," Jamie said, very articulately, and then he carefully felt for the floor and used it to push himself into semi-sitting-up. "Um, ow," he said, and his back ached in a very familiar and unwanted way, but apart from that, "Uh, I don't--no, I don't think I'm really hurt," he said, struggling to his feet and wincing a lot, even as Master Erik hurried over and helped him up. "Ow, ow, ouch," he hissed, and felt a wetness on the back of his pants. "Toffee, can you look, did I cut my back on the chair?" he asked, familiar with this particular feeling from kitchen accidents more than anything, and also the time he'd fallen down the stairs at the Academy while also holding a vase.

He moved around behind Jamie, gently tugging his top up and...

"Yes, you did. It doesn't look too bad, but it's bleeding quite a lot."

"Ugh," Jamie muttered. "Bad enough for stitches, or just a bandage--?" he asked hopefully. He really disliked doctors, and today was supposed to be happy and calm, for god's sake.

"I think a bandage will do, but you'll have to be careful about how you move."

"Ok, I can manage that," Jamie said, limping over to the bathroom with them hovering over him. "Toffee, can you clean me up and bandage me, or is that too much?" he asked, and he meant it neutrally, but his pain made it come out irritated.

"Yes, I can clean you up and bandage you. Do you want painkillers first though?"

"No, I'll be fine," he said with a slight snarl. Jamie despised painkillers, they made him feel lazy and weepy by turns, and he could definitely tough out a cut once he'd had the chance to sit down for a little while.

He knelt and cleaned Jamie's back, then carefully applied antiseptic ointment, followed by a large bandage.

The whole time, Barba watched closely. "Jamie's not mad at you, sweetheart," he murmured. "He's snippy because he's in pain, that's all."

"Hard to be nice when you're hurting." He agreed, kissing Jamie's back just above the bandage. "Jamie should get changed, I'll clear up."

"I'm sorry," Jamie murmured, feeling deeply chastised now, and took a few deep breaths to steady himself. "Toffee, I can clean up," he protested, but when he moved to get up he almost fell over.

"No, need to rest and let your back start to heal. I had a good nights sleep last night, I can clean up."

"Well, alright," Jamie grumbled. "Put any leftovers just in a box in the middle shelf in the fridge, and don't run the dishwasher till I show you how, it's very tempermental. And I'll take care of dinner still--"

"What you will do is rest, and let Toffee rest too, and if you order in pizza we'll all live," Barba ordered dryly.

"Uh-huh, that's right. Need to rest and there's nothing wrong with pizza."

"Exactly. My lovely, you're going to have a nice, quiet day with Toffee, and if you're going to protest one more time I won't even let *you* be the one to order the pizza, I'll have Hendrick call it from the office," Barba said to Jamie's incredulous gasp. "We will all be fine if you rest with your pet-sib. And Toffee, once you've cleaned up and washed your face and hands, I want you in those adorable pajamas you look at like you're starving. And both of you do fun things." he pressed kisses to their foreheads, got his briefcase, locked up well, and left.
