"He eats meat too," Foggy said very gently to Jamie, "Thank you so much." He wrapped his arms around Matt and kissed his hair softly. "It hasn't really stopped, has it?"

Matt shook his head slightly and made a noise of absolute frustration. Foggy kissed him again. "I hear you," he said patiently as he could. "Alright--hospital or Danny?"

Matt honest-to-god snarled, bit at his mouth, but hissed out, "Danny," looking absolutely furious at the whole situation. Foggy couldn't blame him.

"Okay. I'll be right here, please don't bite anyone," Foggy said jokingly, and took a gentle step back.

He rested his hand on Golubushka's cheek, shutting his eyes and reaching out with his chi to locate the broken blood vessels and cauterise them with a quick flare of power, pulling back at once.

"Done. Just a matter of washing the blood off now." And he glanced over at Ivannya, prompting her to offer to get some wet wipes.

Matt stayed very very still and when the Danny let him go he clutched at his nose and whimpered at the cold fire pain, sharp and horrible like something foreign and wrong touching him, burrowing into him and stabbing at him, and he yelped as it suddenly intensified, get it off me get it off me--!

What the fuck? He'd withdrawn his chi! But he knew that water would work to wash any chi traces off. "Ivannya, get a bowl of water and some cloths instead of wet wipes please. And, do you have anything Golubushka could use to irrigate his nostrils?"

"Yes, I can get a neti pot or a syringe. And I'll bring along some of the cooled water we boiled for tea earlier for that. Sir, which would you prefer?" She addressed Golubushka's master.

"The first one!" Foggy said quickly, moving to rub Matt's back, horrified at how he was panicking. Matt never panicked, would grit his teeth or else just go quiet in the face of pain (if he wasn't feeling trusting--sometimes he really trusted Foggy nowadays, would let him see how bad it was, and it was touching and horrible).

Matt was making a guttural noise of pain and fear as Foggy helped get the sweater off so it wouldn't get dirty, and clutching and clawing at his face, as Foggy had to grab his hands.

"What did you do?" he hissed at Danny. "This isn't normal!"

And he grabbed the wet cloth and started using it on Matt's face immediately.

(OOC: I thought you had Golubushka getting better with handling other people's chi, not worse?)

"The exact same thing I'd do for any of my friend who were in that situation. And no shit it's not normal, I withdrew my chi!"

Ivannya hurried back, offering the neti pot to Foggy, on a tray with the bowl of water and an empty bowl.

(OOC-- he's better at it with his friend Danny, who he trusts at least somewhat. This one is just different enough to be really unnerving, and the chi is trying to get at his self-imposed mental block from earlier in the day.)

The rinsing was agony, sharp, and Matt whined but it felt like the pain was being pulled out of him like a knife or a person done using him for now, and he cooperated better then, taking the wet towels and using shaking hands to wipe more and more water over himself, and the pain receded, leaving tender bruised-feeling face, sore, and he gasped for air for a minute, shuddering hard, and asked other-Danny uncanny-valley hated-him trying to fix my head too? Felt like, trying to burrow inside my skull.

"No, you don't use chi to get into people's heads. Well, I don't. I know better than to think I've got the skills for that." He frowned, considering the question. "I did have to probe to locate the right blood vessels to cauterise, maybe it's a combination of you being hypersensitive to chi, and the fact that it's impossible to withdraw all of my chi without taking some of yours, and that's a really bad idea."

That was kind of a creepy response (he didn't really morally object to doing that?) Foggy thought, but was mostly watching Matt, who seemed calmer, like he often did during a crisis, and nodded thoughtfully and winced. "Could be there are scars close to there. Or I got hurt without knowing and the chi was trying to fix it? Has happened before," Matt said slowly, feeling out every syllable, "But also...you could use too too much. Is like too much antiseptic in cuts. Hurts a lot more without being necessary," he said and smiled a little. "Not your fault," he said reassuringly, and sagged back against Foggy.

And then the lights flickered and went off, and a storm howled outside.

"Thank you. I can't do chi-based neurosurgery." He told Golubushka, knowing that inability would be more reassuring than a refusal to try without the training, as he stood up and raised his hand to generate a light with chi. "But I'm not careless with my chi either. No matter how careful I am I still end up leaving traces of my chi after working with it outside my body, just like there's always a few drops of water on the inside of a glass after it's poured out." He shrugged. "Most people wouldn't notice the traces. Ironically if chi use didn't hurt you then you'd be a good candidate to learn chi-based neurosurgery and similar." Not that Danny could teach him

Meanwhile Ivannya and Jamie had cleared away most of the towels and water and brought lamps.

"The back-up generator should come on soon." Jamie told them reassuringly.

Matt laughed despite himself, smiling brightly at the sheer absurdity, I didn't get to finish elementary school, could not be a surgeon, he giggled out loud. And then he felt sharp and afraid when Foggy looked out the windows and said he didn't know if they could get out now, the drifts were so high.

"It's okay, we've got plenty of food, and there's beds downstairs. We can find nightclothes to lend you as well." She offered soothingly as Jamie went back to get the snacks he'd prepared for Golubushka, and the lights came back on.

"Spinach paratha, and I prepared a filling with beef mince, onions, garlic and a bit of tomato puree for them."

"Someone should tell Toffee and Treacle," Matt murmured, looking exhausted and concerned. Foggy felt for him, he also quite wanted to go home and curl up with his warm Matt and reassure him that all was well.

"Is there somewhere we can all sit?" Foggy asked quietly. "Somewhere Matt can lie down to rest a bit?" Matt made a noise of vague protest. "Shush, you look like you're going to faint," Foggy scolded him gently.

Jamie stood, telling them that he'd let Toffee and Matt know what was going on, and Ivannya followed his example, picking up the tray of snacks.

"There's sofa beds in the den, through this way."

"Thank you," Foggy thanked them and helped Matt through, nudging at him to lie down. "Matt, I'll feed you if you're too exhausted. If you go to sleep hungry now, you'll feel awful tomorrow," he reasoned, and Matt looked pissed off but sighed and nodded. He craned his neck towards the strange Danny Rand and mumbled, "Thank you. For my nose."

"You're welcome." He glanced at Ivannya with a faint frown. "Do you have appropriate spare clothing for everyone in the house, or should I go to get something?" Either from his apartment or a shop. "I can go over the roofs and keep myself warm with chi."

"We've got pajamas that will work for you, Golubushka and Matt, but...not necessarily for you sir?" She glanced at Golubushka's master, hinting that he should make the decision.

"You're going outside in this? The snow looks feet deep out there," Foggy said, skeptical. "I'll live, one way or the other," he said gently to the girl. "My suits aren't that uncomfortable."

Matt snorted, and said, "Yes, they are. Itchy and sharp."

"I promise you I've been out in worse." It had been a regular survival exercise in K'un Lun. "But if you're certain I'm not going to tell you that you can't manage with what you've got." He shrugged.

"Will you need to contact DA Barba, Ivannya?" Check if he'd be able to get home with Hendrick or had any instructions for them.

"Yes, but that can wait until Jamie comes back out to keep the three of you company."

Foggy raised an eyebrow. "Well, if you're going out anyway, a pair of sweatpants and a shirt wouldn't go awry," he said. "The sweater's nice enough anyway. You should try and see if the power outages are just here or the whole block."

Matt curled up a little bit on the bed, placing his head in Foggy's warm soft lap. "Why Toffee and Treacle not come back over?" he asked softly. "Is better for everyone to be together when things are sudden."

"I need to check on Onigiri really. Don't want to bring her over, but she's not set up to be okay alone overnight right now." And he'd rather do it himself than have someone at the building do it for him.

"I think Toffee might be nervous of your master or feel safest in the nest." Ivannya answered Golubushka, wondering what was taking them so long.

Matt frowned and turned his ears towards the nest, focusing in and in, and heard a soft argument, Toffee was saying he shouldn't be rude and keep the others in the nest too, and he was worried if master Erik could come home, was he coming home, he sounded upset and worried, and the other-Matt was saying he wasn't rude, they'd understand he was shy, and sounded stressed himself too, and Matt felt guilty for not having left before, but wondered if the storm was the wizards, and if it was it couldn't be his fault, and he turned his head and told Ivannya, my Foggy is good and kind, besides, doesn't get up if I'm in his lap, softly teasing and squirming more into Foggy's lap to press down and smile at the warm hand in his hair, teasing him back, saying Matt was like a cat, how could he disturb him once he finally deigned to settle down?

"I guess if Danny's there he can protect me from Golubushka's master if I need it, right?"

"Yes, exactly." Treacle Matt told him reassuringly. "And if he isn't, if he needs to get back home briefly to check on Onigiri, me and Jamie can get in his way and give you time to run if you need to, right Jamie?"

"Yes, of course we can." Jamie hugged Toffee, warm and reassuring. "But do you really think your master could get through the storm back to your apartment and then back here?"

"He wouldn't risk taking me in weather like this, but he's taken me across the roofs before, and he does a lot better in the cold than I do."

Matt felt disoriented offended for a second before remembering all times he was so so very frightene of others, how terrified of Foggy he was at first and still sometimes when his memory went away and nobody could soothe him, and he made sure to have a happy pet smile and squirm to sit on Foggy's lap to kiss and kiss him and he petted and kissed until he looked flushed and happy and cute, and he heard them moving, even taking the nice bag of Matt's with them and he brightened up, saying hi Toffee with effort, talking could be difficult when exhausted.

"Hi Golubushka." He smiled at the other pet, noting that he was in his owner's lap, keeping him pinned down a bit. But he still let Jamie take his bag of knitting over to him, and settled down out of easy reach as Danny hugged Treacle Matt, explaining that he was going back to their apartment, to set Onigiri up for the night.

"Jamie, can you stay with our guests, while I call Master Erik to find out what he's going to do?"

"Of course."

Matt frowned a little as Ivannya left the room but melted into a kiss by Foggy, purring as he gently touched Matt's collar and smiled at Toffee, offering him a handshake and saying hi, I'm Matt's Foggy, except the name didn't sound quite right.
