"I know, you don't feel like you need as much money as you have access to, but it's important that you have it, so that if you really do need it - like if you had to get a taxi or something - it's there." Matt kissed the top of Dove's head before disengaging and turning to the cooking.

"Would you like to try to handle the rice, or the naan?"

"I'll do the rice," he offered because it was simpler. He wasn't going to argue about the money, he would go with whatever decision Matt and Foggy made for him, but he wanted to try.

"Maybe if I find more work to do?" He asked.

"We'd rather you didn't try to do that. It looks bad if we send you out to work."

"I understand, I won't." He nodded and focused on the rice. And he wasn't going to ask Matt and Foggy for more work to do to pay it off by, his labor belonged to them anyway.

He didn't have a craft he could make to sell. He didn't have anything he could use to earn a little extra.

But thirteen weeks was so long... and he wouldn't be allowed to kneel for Matt and be fed by him until it was done.

"The Academy does sell work by some of the students if they ask fro it and their masters approve, you can ask for advice on that when you start working with clay."

he doubted that his clay was anywhere good enough to sell like that. And he hadn't started taking his clay class yet.

"I will, thank you Matt." he said obediently.

There was still so much else he was excited about though.

Matt worked on preparing garlic and coriander naan, while Dove cooked the rice, and they were soon ready to serve up.

"Would you like to be hand fed today sweetheart?" Dove had been oddly hesitant about asking for that since he came off restriction.

"Is that, you wont mind doing that for me again? Do I deserve it?" He asked, barely daring to hope.

"Yes sweetheart, you deserve it, and I never mind handfeeding you." He hugged Dove and kissed him on the forehead.

He felt warm and happy inside, and a rare thing, worthy.

When the rice and naan were finished he set the table to be ready, removing a chair and placing the cushion so that he could kneel beside Matt properly.

Matt stroked Dove's hair with one hand while he waited for Foggy to take the first bite, then when it was time to start feeding Dove he tore off a piece of naan and gave Dove some curry wrapped inside it.

The attention and affection mixed in with being fed, (the old trauma of it so far behind now that he never associated it with matt or foggy), filled him anew with warmth.

It was the feeling of belonging. He belonged to Matt, and being fed felt like a physical aspect of that connection.

He was even learning how to be fed better- to do it the way pets should- with grace and obedience. Gem had been teaching him when they got together at the academy, finding a quiet space, kneeling together and she would direct him how to improve his posture, how to move his head and his lips the right way to appear more attractive. How to properly place his hands, relaxed and folded behind his back and out of the way. Tilt his head up just so. Make the correct appreciative noises, just a soft hum to show the food was good and appreciated.

He wondered if Matt noticed.

He smiled down at Dove, recognising what had to be Gem's training.

"You're so good for us."

"And you look very pretty." Foggy added. "Do you feel comfortable with that posture?"

Dove preened at the positive attention, that Foggy would call him pretty was a great compliment. And once he had his eyes fixed, he knew he really would look better.

He couldn't hold the posture for too long, he'd been practicing different kneeling postures Gem taught him while alone to get stronger at them.

"The more I practice, the stronger I get at holding postures," he assured Foggy. "Am I doing it right? Do I look like other pets?"

"You're doing it right, yes. But with your back I'm worried that you could be doing damage if the posture isn't comfortable."

"Yes, Foggy," he said obediently and eased the posture. Instructor Hart had taught him well the importance (and consequences)of obeying his safety guidelines. "Which posture do you prefer me to use?" he asked with humility.

"I like seeing you leaning against Matt, or feeling you lean against me, as long as it's comfortable for you."

Gem had told him it was rude for a pet to act too relaxed in their master's presence because a pet must always be ready to serve. But if that was how Foggy wanted him, then it couldn't be wrong.

He relaxed his posture, folding one foot under him so he could lean against Matt comfortably but without putting too much pressure on his protector. "Is this how you like?" he asked Foggy.

"Yes, that's it." Foggy answered simply, and Matt decided to expand.

"Leaning against us, relaxing like this, it's a display of trust."

He smiled, he liked it a lot when Matt and Foggy told him their preferences. He committed the posture to memory, intent on using it more to please them with. And it was far more comfortable than the more formal posture Gem taught him to use.

He opened his mouth for another bit of food as Matt fed him. "You make me feel so loved and good," he said after swallowing.

"You are good, so good for us, and we do love you, so very much." Matt assured Dove, stroking his hair.

He didnt know if he could feel happier than he did now.

Or more aroused.

And kneeling at Matt's side made him shiver with want.
