Matt made a little grumble at Foggy, pushing at him for a second until he was pet the precise way he wanted, and before he knew it they were all moving towards the food again, but with both Danny and Foggy sitting on the same couch and Treacle was twining himself with him, and Matt sighed happily at the warm comfort, rubbing his fuzzy sweater on Treacle's cheeks and neck.

Treacle: Clearing Up

And he purred at the feel of twining with a fellow pet, someone who understood him and his assumptions on a bone deep level, that he didn't have with the pets in his new world.

Matt nuzzled into Treacle's side and then opened his mouth obediently for a bite of cheddar cheese on a little cracker, licking Foggy's fingers. His mind felt fuzzy around the edges, words far away from him; he felt only a burgeoning affection and a feeling of gratefulness for Treacle being here, being willing to accept and forgive him, and a kind of incredible warmth and desire towards Foggy. He briefly nuzzled at Danny's knee and then flinched back when a hand came down towards him, not expecting it.

And when Golubushka flinched he adjusted course and scratched behind Matt's ears, not Golubushka's.

"I think my Matt missed this, being with a pet who shares his culture. Pet culture in my world's a bit different."

Golubushka's Foggy: Clearing Up

"Yeah?" Foggy asked softly. "Nobody likes this kind of thing, or acts like this?" he asked, petting Matt gently and smoothly, kissing his head and smiling when he purred. And then he offered his hand curled closed to Treacle, as if he were a cat himself.

Danny: Clearing Up

"Oh, there's people who like it of course." He agreed, smiling as Matt hesitated, then leaned into the petting. "But liking it and acting like this isn't the same as having the same background and culture. Like...well that thing where I take our Japanese business contacts out to get hugely drunk is an important part of doing business with them, but Ward really isn't comfortable with it."

Golubushka's Foggy: Clearing Up

"I can understand what you mean," Foggy said. "We have to extensively advertise that me and Matt are from Hell's Kitchen so people will feel comfortable talking to us, and Matt's the one who advocates for a lot of our pet clients, and helps me and Marci translate their words when he's not the one taking point. There's also times when our clients are having psychotic episodes or are not very good at talking or being verbal, or can't be, and Matt helps a lot there."

Matt was purring now, tilting his head up for being rubbed under the neck and jingling the bells, and Treacle was making little squeaking sounds whenever Danny got to a particular spot in his scratches.

"Do you have trouble buying them toys and collars, things they like? I have a lot of research into which ones are best," Foggy offered. "And I know what you mean, it can get pretty difficult, being very isolated from people who really understand you. Matt says having pet friends is very important."

Danny: Clearing Up

"Thankfully I've had a lot of good advice about what sort of toys and collars work best. Feral helped a lot with the sensory side of the collars, although of course I always make sure Matt has the last word on if they feel good. And the safety release is a must." He bent to kiss Matt on the forehead.

Foggy nodded thoughtfully, and then smiled as a box of toys appeared on the couch between them, and Matt sat up eagerly, eyes widening and mouth opening and closing in the way he did to ask for something to chew on. Foggy fished out a chewing necklace immediately, draping it around his neck and grinning as he immediately gnawed on it, a blissful expression on his face, and Treacle made noises of jealousy.

"One for you too." He promised Matt, raking to find another chewing necklace, and draping it around Matt's neck.

"Feral has a story about how he used to end up picking holes at the seams of his clothes if he didn't have something better to stim with. He likes metal for his stim toys, but my Matt prefers softer medical grade silicone tangles and such, does yours feel the same?"

Golubushka's Foggy: Clearing Up

"Yeah, silicone or things that are more squishy--he doesn't like metal at all, it reminds him of bad things," Foggy said, and then without thinking tugged part of it out of Matt's mouth when he tried to put half the damn necklace in there. "No," he said mildly scolding, and when Matt pouted remained firm. "Yes, you can fit more, but I don't want you to choke," he said, and Matt rolled his eyes and reached for the box, waiting for a new thing, and Foggy gave him a large, ice-cream-cone shaped thing to chew on instead, and Matt happily gnawed it.

"He likes also some of the rubber things--for texture if nothing else. And he's made a few things that are just for touching nice textures, things made of wool or silk or fuzzy alpaca. He has a black scarf made of yak and silk and wool, he likes that over his face sometimes. But no actual gags or things like that," Foggy added. "He can always talk if he likes."

Danny: Clearing Up

"Yeah, my Matt made a crochet cowl, cashmere, silk and some cormo wool in for strength that he sometimes wears pulled up over his mouth, with lot's of textured stitches in." And Danny offered his Matt a toy modeled on the sort of toys people used to play tug of war with dogs.

Matt dropped the ice-cream cone immediately, pouting at Foggy and wanting a game of his own. He was delighted when Foggy found a ball with a bell and tossed and went scampering after it, laughing as he caught the next toss in his mouth just by lunging up.

He let go of his end of the toy when Matt jerked his head sideways, letting him 'pull' it from his hand. And then Matt chased after Golubushka, toy still in his mouth.

"I think he wants to play with your Matt instead."

Matt giggled as he was tackled, and wrestled with Treacle, squirming and tickling and fighting to keep his toy away while stealing Treacle's, and they moved almost in synch as they fought for the right to both.

"They can be so playful." He commented, keeping his voice entirely approving. "What games do you play with yours? Catch/chase of course, but what else?"

"Fetching, tickle fights, uh, Matt really likes posing sometimes," Foggy said. "He also likes hide and seek--he's way too good at it."

"Oh, yes they really are." And it was sort of heartbreaking. "I sometimes need to use chi-sense to find him."

Golubushka's Foggy: Clearing Up

"He also really enjoys ropes, like this," Foggy said. "Or just in general. Sometimes he wants to curl up and knit and listen to books, just while tied up. Matt also really likes memory or trivia games when he's up to talking, or ones with yes-no questions if he's not. Or if he's not up for words at all, he's also very good at finding hidden things. And always playing with Piroshki. She's incredibly fun."

He paused, watching them squeal and wrestle. It appeared Treacle was more ticklish on his feet than Matt was, and Matt was taking ruthless advantage.

"At times, when he's like this, it's because he's sick, and he would prefer soup and crackers and things like that."

Danny: Clearing Up

"Yeah, my Matt loves playing with Onigiri too. When he was with us during that bad brain day Jessica was really upset to see the two of them playing with her though. Does it bother your Jessica to see Golbushka playing with Piroshki?2

"I think for her, seeing vulnerability and--and things that remind her of, I suppose innocence might be the word, those can be very upsetting for her," Foggy said carefully. "I think sometimes submissiveness reminds her of terrible times in her life. It can look coerced to her."

Danny: Clearing Up

"Yeah. Golubushka called her a feral cat, and that's not exactly a bad description. She prefers it when people stand up to her."

"She can be around Matt when he's not particularly verbal--if he isn't confused and doesn't try to, uh, defer to her," Foggy said. "That always is too much, which is fine. But they have a really strong friendship."

"Yeah, strong friendships are always good." He agreed with a smile.

And with a yell of triumph Matt sat up, showing off that he'd gotten both toys away from Treacle, and then he laughed and pulled Treacle into a warm hug and they came back over, panting and flushed from the tight wrestling and clearly needing water. Foggy made sure Matt drank from the ice-cold bottle that appeared next to him, and then a huge bowl of fresh strawberries appeared on the table, instantly drawing both the pets' attention.
