I appreciate that all floors are clear, and I can't trip, Matt said softly, and then there was a very odd noise from the room with Ivannya and strange-Danny.

"I'm not usually this clumsy." She protested with a laugh from where she'd landed after losing her balance in the mirroring game she was playing with Danny.

"I'm sure you aren't." He reassured her, a hint of matching laughter in his voice.

Matt listened keenly to her giggles, the way she moved quick and graceful, how she cocked her hips just the tiniest bit, the way Matt did when he was flirting with Foggy, tempting him, or appeasing masters before, or even once when Jessica was calling him pretty, and he frowned thoughtfully, unsure how to square bad-Danny with this funny sweet person to her, feeling very bad if a good person like his friend Danny thought so little of him, and had stopped eating, eyes distant and body slow and cold.

Golubushka had stopped eating and looked unhappy, so he moved over to hug him again. Matt did the same thing, whispering something into his ear.

No, no, I'm fine! Matt rushed to reassure them, feeling guilty with a touch of resentment, am okay, just pondering things, you are very sweet but am fine, not going to explode, I promise!

He pulled back, feeling maybe a touch hurt, and he'd lost his appetite too. Not that there was much left on his plate anyway.

"Need to wash my hands before I start knitting again. Jamie, could you get Hendrick's cardigan down for me to work on for a bit please?"

Matt hummed and finished eating, thanking Jamie once again and he rose to wash his hands, moving slowly but smoothly and using memory to get around, and once he was pleasantly clean and dry he listened in to the whole house, hummings and creakings, and shuddered at the cold plain room he faintly felt was a cage-room, and then stretched and made his way back, except as he went into the nest the soft muffled it all and he smacked his face directly into the nearest chair as he moved to sit.

He'd just given Toffee his knitting when he saw Golubushka smash into the chair, and he moved to hover awkwardly over him, not quite sure his touch would be welcome.

"Golubushka! How bad is it? May I check your face? And do you want painkillers now?"

Sorry, Matt said reflexively, cringing back mindlessly, and then wrestled for control and grabbed a tissue to hold to his nose and tilt it back, as he tried to explain not broken but bleeding, just bleeding lots, and that he was okay he'd just need a towel and he was so sorry, so sorry, shards of embarrassment and fear.

"You don't have to be sorry. But let me at least bring you an ice-pack along with a couple of towels." He kept some old towels that were already stained with blood for things like this, and he hurried off to get them along with the ice pack.

Thank you, Matt murmured, and put the ice-pack on his face over a towel and sighed softly before bursting into laughter, apologizing still but it was so funny, it was all just completely absurd, the whole day was absurd, and he was almost doubled over with it, weak-kneed and giggling.

"Better to be able to laugh when you can." He commented with a sad smile to Jamie's confusion, and picked up the tray on his way to go and wash his own hands so he could keep working on his shawl.

There was a patient calm for a little while, just gulping blood as it came down and waiting for it all to stop and hoping nothing got on the sweater, and Matt felt a little dizzy and more and more calm in the room, and he asked Treacle quietly to break the silence, how have things been at your home? The work, and things? Fun things happening?

"Oh, it's been good. Had enough time to really relax and rest my brain once we got sorted out with my charities. And Matt Murdock recommended a really good body language tutor to help me discourage people from trying to push me into things." He smiled happily at the memory of how people had started backing down when they wanted him to do things that weren't something pre-agreed.

Tell me about that, Matt said warmly, interested to see any similarities to what he'd learned just from his job, on the fly.

"Can't pull off the worth more than your home thing some pets can, but I can do very busy, and don't have time for you. That's...confidence more than anything else." He giggled then, remembering something he'd overheard once. "One woman said the trick to making men move aside for her, not them forcing her to move aside is walking like she's been sent to kill Captain America."

Matt giggled too, imagining himself radiating that sort of feeling, and asked with bright curiosity, do you feel like the blind eyes or else glasses help? Some people say they're unnerving.

"Hmmm...people tend to not realise I'm blind as much without the glasses, so the glasses are better I find. Means they don't get upset that I'm not looking at them the right way."

Matt nodded thoughtfully, and opened his mouth to explain how he had two different pairs of glasses now, one small with the red for work and serious things and one with big heart-shapes for fun and being cute and petlike and not-scary, and when he was just about to pull them out to show Toffee his phone beeped loudly, startling them all, saying Foggy, Foggy, and Matt scrambled for it with his one hand, still staunching the bleeding with the other.

"That's his master." He tugged the others away a bit, hoping that they'd heard a different name than Foggy.

"Would you like us to give you a bit of privacy Golubushka?" Jamie put in.

Matt shook his head, it's your nest, he said frantically fumbling to get it, and he answered when he could, hello, what's up? and listened, blinking, to Foggy's gentle but intent concern about where he'd gone and why he hadn't answered any emails or texts, and Matt sheepishly said he really hadn't noticed any until now, he was sorry, and he was visiting the pet Toffee with Treacle and his Danny, and Foggy asked the Danny who's kind of a dick? and Matt chuckled and said yes, but he's fine, and asked softly when he needed to get back home, and Foggy paused and said actually I want to come pick you up soon-ish, but I'm flexible, just try and tell me the address, and Matt frowned and asked Jamie about that.

He frowned a bit uncertainly at the idea, but...

"He won't be allowed into the kitchen, let alone beyond." And he gave Golubushka the address.

Of course, will just want to see I'm fine and maybe say hi, Matt said warmly, and told Foggy the address, and murmured very quietly-shyly-happily love you and heard love you too and giggled a little, his face feeling hot and flushed, and then the blood spurted renewed out of his nose and he sighed deeply deeply in annoyance and hung up after Foggy did, and he said with bright wonder, he is so sweet, I love him so much, so kind and good, and asked Toffee, do you want to meet him? Is gentle nice, good with pets.

"I'm not sure..." He trailed off, looking at Jamie uncertainly. "I don't think Master Erik wants me meeting people he hasn't vetted properly. And he can't come back, he's got work this afternoon."

Even for five minutes, from across a room? Matt asked, surprised, seems a little much to me. But is okay, he will understand.
