He felt loved... and very turned on. He would do anything for Matt. He was his.

And he lightly kissed Matt's wrist as his hand was near.

Matt leaned in and kissed Dove on the forehead,, pleased that he was initiating affection again.

It felt so good, and he'd been worried about kissing Matt without an invitation to do so, and he was so relieved that Matt wasn't rejecting him. Everything was getting to be so much better, and he was going to try so much harder.

He would be so good, he wouldn't misbehave anymore, he would be careful to do exactly as he was told. Anything to please his protector.

"You're so good for us. We're so very lucky to have you. Maybe when we get home I can put you in my lap and kiss you until you're breathless." Matt made hopeful plans, before pressing Dove's fork into his hand. "But we should eat now." Even if he would rather keep on kissing Dove.

He looked forward to it, but it didn't sound like Matt was wanting a response, he took the fork and started on his food, enjoying the taste a lot.

He tried to control his senses to encompass just their table, blocking out all the other noises around, wanting to focus solely on his protector and owner.

He smiled to see how happy that idea made Dove, and at how clearly he was focusing on just the two of them.

"Would you like to try a bit of my swordfish Dove?"

He nodded, "Yes please," he said, reminding himself that Foggy offered. Foggy wouldn't offer if he didn't mean it.
It felt so good to have his focus narrowed like this, and he placed a hand on Matt's knee, smiling.
"I'm having a wonderful time, thank you."

"I'm glad to hear that." And he leaned over to feed Dove a bite of the fish, careful to make sure he was comfortable.

He was careful to eat it the way Gem was teaching him, it didn't come naturally yet but she said he didn't look ridiculous.

And he waited after, hoping that he pleased Foggy.

"Oh, you're so sweet, our beautiful Dove." He smiled at him approvingly.

He blushed with pleasure, glad to have gotten it right.

Matt fed Foggy a forkful of his own duck, before turning to Dove.

"Want to try some of my duck sweetheart?"

"Please," he said softly, intent on demonstrating to Matt too, how he could learn to do things better.

"You're so good for us." Matt kissed Dove quickly before taking a bite of duck onto his fork, and offering it to Dove.

He tried to be careful and do it 'pretty' but somehow missed and the bite fell and he ended up catching it in his hand. He quickly popped it into his mouth, feeling his face turn red.
And remembered all over again why trying to be a proper pet was out of his ability. He would never be like Gem or Matt. He lowered his head, but tucked his disappointment in himself carefully away, not wanting to make a scene. This was a special evening for all of them. He wasn't going to ruin it with his issues.

"It's okay sweetheart." He hugged Dove, kissing him again. "It's my responsibility to make sure the duck's on the fork properly, not yours to compensate for me errors."
