"Oooh! Sounds delicious." He smiled brightly at Jamie.

Jamie smiled back at him and ushered him to his spot at the little breakfast table. "For you, I got your favorite cheesesteak, plus disco fries with extra cheese curds, fried beets and shredded cabbage salad, and a strawberry milkshake. I got just a double burger with every vegetable," he explained to them as he took their coats quickly. "And some sweet potato fries for myself too, with hot sauce. Toffee, I didn't know what flavor is your favorite, so I got vanilla milkshake for you--is that okay?"

"Vanilla's good, yes." He smiled brightly at Jamie as they all sat down together.

Barba reached for his food, stuffing a handful of fries in his mouth with abandon, and cheerfully ignored Jamie's giggle at the sight. And then when Toffee was staring at him he gently nudged him to encourage him to eat the still-hot food, and began to work on his cheesesteak as Jamie started a conversation.

"This is all from the Hot n Ready diner on -- Avenue and 6th, the one where we used to go sometimes after we'd all had a long night or a hard week. Master Erik always said we could stuff ourselves stupid as long as we could stay awake for the walk home, and then curl up and nap after. It was great," Jamie said warmly, reminiscing. "And the apartment for the first internship and then the ADA position, the one we stayed in until we moved here--oh my gosh, Toffee, it was so tiny and cramped. We shoved a twin and two queens together and would huddle, and in the winter it was so poorly heated there would be frost on the inside of the windowsill in the morning. It was awful, but cheap, and right where we needed to be to get to everything."

"And a good excuse to all cuddle together, right?" He smiled at Jamie as he took the first bite of his burger. Master Erik must have really fell in love with Ivannya and Jamie to get them so early then.

"The best. They'd come home from classes and hide in bed with me with steaming hot mugs of cocoa and water bottles in the sheets. Absolutely lovely," Jamie said, a deep smile on his face. "At first I was worried when he bought me that it was just a whim and I'd be returned a few months later. But that never happened."

Barba raised both his eyebrows sharply. "I've never even thought to take any of you back. You're mine."

"You take such good care of us." He smiled up at his master.

Barba felt skeptical--he really clearly hadn't taken good care of Toffee, there was overwhelming evidence to show *that*--but he hummed, and placed an arm protectively around Toffee, and smiled at him. "I will never take you back," he promised him. "I will never give any of you up, by any means, ever. I will never abandon you. Once I knew I wanted you, that was it--no matter how sudden it was."

"And I'm so glad you decided you wanted me."

Barba delicately wiped his mouth and then kissed Toffee's hair, and stole a fry playfully, hoping Toffee would laugh or steal one back from Barba's bowl.

He giggled, and stole a fry back, remembering how Matt and Danny would sometimes steal food from each other.

Jamie smiled at the flirting, and ducked his head a little automatically, and put his burger on Toffee's plate, offering him the last bite of the enormous, delicious stack of meat and vegetable.

"Ah...thank you Jamie." He wasn't sure how to respond really, but he didn't want to hurt Jamie.

Barba watched as Toffee clearly didn't know what to do, and said, "Try it, Toffee--you might like it," and Jamie looked a little taken aback by the total lack of positive reaction, and perhaps a little hurt too. They were used to all of them sharing food once one initiated.

"I'm sure I will." He smiled at Jamie. "Just, still have a lot of my sandwich." But he tried the bite Jamie had given him, and made the soft moan of pleasure he'd learned from Matt.

Jamie still felt a little miffed, but he understood that perhaps Toffee just wasn't used to seeing other pets in the same way, didn't remember to flirt with them too, or maybe he just hadn't recognized the gesture. A part of him felt suddenly very nervous that Toffee didn't actually find the rest of them attractive, but he pushed that insecurity away, and went back to his own fries, smiling despite his feelings. "Do you like the mushrooms? I guessed on those," he said, trying to keep a conversation going.

"Oh, yes, they're delicious, meaty but not too heavy." He moved a bit closer to Jamie, reaching out to hug him, and breaking off a piece of his sandwich to offer to Jamie.

Jamie smiled then, mollified, and ate the bite greedily as if it was the best food he'd ever had. It wasn't, but he was glad Toffee liked him, and then he leaned over and kissed him tentatively.

He wrpped his arms around Jamie's shoulders and returned the kiss.

Jamie leaned in, licking into Toffee's mouth, and he was aware then of Master Erik's hungry, admiring gaze and he shivered compulsively, leaning in further and wrapping his arms around Toffee's waist, moaning under the close scrutiny.

He felt his cheeks heat up, but he leaned into Jamie's embrace, food forgotten, and focused on kissing him and making him feel good.

Jamie shuddered and leaned in, rubbing at Toffee's sides and feeling under his shirt but stopping himself from pushing his hands all the way up, and had to lean back for a second to breathe deeper, control himself from pulling Toffee's shirt off and licking at him until he cried. And then he had to go back and kiss him some more, stroking his hands through Toffee's hair and writhe in his chair a little until there was a loud clatter and he overbalanced and fell backwards suddenly, shattering the mood.

And he fell over right onto Jamie. He pulled back, carefully.

"Jamie, are you okay? Did I hurt you?"

"Mmmrg," Jamie said, very articulately, and then he carefully felt for the floor and used it to push himself into semi-sitting-up. "Um, ow," he said, and his back ached in a very familiar and unwanted way, but apart from that, "Uh, I don't--no, I don't think I'm really hurt," he said, struggling to his feet and wincing a lot, even as Master Erik hurried over and helped him up. "Ow, ow, ouch," he hissed, and felt a wetness on the back of his pants. "Toffee, can you look, did I cut my back on the chair?" he asked, familiar with this particular feeling from kitchen accidents more than anything, and also the time he'd fallen down the stairs at the Academy while also holding a vase.

He moved around behind Jamie, gently tugging his top up and...

"Yes, you did. It doesn't look too bad, but it's bleeding quite a lot."
