Joy watched her closely, sitting between the officer, Ward, and Raspberry.

"Hi, my name is Sharon, I was wondering if I could talk to you today about what happened earlier today in the park?" she asked, her voice soft but brisk.

Joy watched her carefully, and Raspberry looked at her, pleading in her eyes, and when Joy carefully glanced away--letting her know that she would probably have to endure some amount of questioning--Raspberry sighed deeply and turned her face into Ward's shoulder.

(OOC: That is absolutely horrible and I'm so sorry that happened to your sister, and that you found out this way. I hope you and your family are doing as best as you can and getting the support and information you need and that everything will be as okay as it can be for you. Don't feel bad about taking the time you needed.)

Ward stiffened slightly at the extra contact, but then slowly wrapped his arm around Raspberry, holding her close.

"I won't let anyone hurt you," he whispered into her ear. "No matter what happens."

And he imagined what it would be like to run away with her, to take her to a good place, an empty house somewhere, taking care of her, and finding her lots of books...

But ofcourse that was ridiculous. He would do anything for her. Even if he got arrested.

Raspberry-NPC: Fresh Sunshine

She smiled at him and then sighed deeper, hearing Nurse Joy trying to get the officer to leave, explaining that her patients were exhausted by the stress already and that they really didn't know any more than anyone else had, but the officer was very calm but insistent that she wanted to hear from each pet, please, what had happened. And then she wanted to talk to them alone, and Nurse Joy firmly said absolutely not, and that they didn't want to be apart and it would be far too dangerous for her patients, and they were having a quiet argument that made her tighter and tenser and tenser.

"I can get you out of here. We can leave, I'll take you back to the clinic later. But we don't have to stay if you don't want to. I'll find a way."

Raspberry bit her lip, and then she nodded, but before either of them could even stand up she yelped and they were in a very different place, a house by the looks of it, and she was comfortably on a warm, plush carpet.

Ward stayed perfectly still, breathing hard and worried. Wizards. Oh fuck. He knew they would come back for him eventually. But. His heart beat wildly. Had they sent him home? Why was Raspberry with him?

"I'm sorry," he said quickly, oh please don't let them have brought Raspberry to his world. Where were they? He listened, no one else was in the house. Thankfully.

A window was to the left... he ran over to it and placed his hand on the window pane, sensing the sounds outside.

"Raspberry, what do you see? Where are we?" he asked in a rush, needing to guage the danger as quickly as possible.

"Um," she said, and peered outside, moving slowly and carefully. "There's grass, rocks, in the far distance a house... It looks like the suburbs? A big driveway. Kind of reminds me of the town I stayed in when I was evidence in my owner's trial. Same architecture," she said, bafflement in her voice.

"Are there... any symbols anywhere? Flags?" he asked, knowing if they were in an expensive area of the city it would be mostly Centre officials, and center officials loved to show off their patriotism. "flags... the colors, blue, white and red stripes and a star in the middle?" That was what the center flag looked like.

"Um," she said, peering close, "There's the American flag...and I think the Texas flag. We're probably in Texas then," she said, bright and pleased. "Oh wow, that'll be nice," she grinned.

"Your flag, from, your world?" he asked, barely letting himself hope.

"Thirteen stripes, fifty stars," she said. "What do you mean, *my* world?"

"That's a normal flag for you?"

He kept his hand on the window, his senses fixed on the outside just in case.

"My world, where I come from," he answered. Now that she was dragged into wizard things, she had a right to know. "A very very different place, and somewhere I hope you'll never have to experience."

Raspberry opened her mouth, and then shut it, not sure how to respond. If he was delusional, she knew that arguing with him was unlikely to work; if he wasn't, she genuinely had no idea how to emotionally react to that.

"That's the normal flag," she said instead. "They also have the regular Texas flag next to it, they're flying both. So this is Texas then, I've never seen both together outside of the state. And this house looks like a pretty normal newer mansion kind," she added, looking around. "The kitchen has marble countertops and all."

"It doesn't smell lived in," he took his hand from the window, nothing was happening outside.

He headed to the kitchen, looking for provisions. They would need food eventually. Depending on how long the wizards trapped them there.

He could break into nearby houses if necessary.

And he quickly checked his jeans pocket to check if his pills were still there.

"It smells a little dusty," she said slowly, walking. "The lights are motion-activated. And the cabinets have some cans and boxes in there."

"Dusty is good, it means no one has been here for a long time." he came over to check out the cabinets Raspberry was looking at, "How are the expiry dates, anything too far gone? Six months past is usually still okay."

He tested the tap on the sink, it sputtered at first but then water flowed. ON a whim he checked the hot tap.... after a minute the water warmed, getting hotter. He grinned. "We have hot water!"

"None of the dates are past tomorrow," she said, amazement in her voice. "And this is all brand-name stuff, the good stuff. Nothing plain or super cheap. And there's a ton of chips and candy too."

"Chips and candy?" he asked excitedly, coming back to her. "Where?"

It wasn't often he got such things, and even though it was easier to get in Raspberry's world he still loved it every chance he got. He could live off chips and candy. "Any chocolate?"

"Oh! Is there pop? Fizzy drinks?"

"Chocolate bars for sure, and the sodas aren't cold but they've got Coke, and the other ones, and some fancy ones too--cherry, pineapple, and grape soda," she said, smiling at his enthusiasm. "Here, let me put it all on the kitchen island, that way we can take any we want."

He ran a hand over the chocolate bars, multiple bars! and took one and unwrapped it and took a bite right away. "wow that's good." he said and then took a breath. "SO, you're taking this pretty well. You know, the weirdness."

"Well," Raspberry said, nibbling on one that was delicious beyond words--dark chocolate with raspberry filling--"I figure that we're not hurt, we're not probably in danger, and we have food, so freaking out will just hurt me and make me tired and melancholy and then you'll get all over-upset too. Anyway, this way I might get to show you some of my home state, it's so beautiful and pets almost never get to do any real travel."

"Is it safe? I don't want to put you at risk. What would happen if you get caught?"

"I don't think I will," Raspberry said with a shrug. "Most pets here live in those gated places, or just inside. And I know how to talk like a free person, and hold myself like one. I don't have collars or tattoos that mark pets either. We'll just say you're my boyfriend if anyone asks." She let her voice go back to its natural drawl as she talked, smiling at how good it felt to have the weight off her shoulders.

He laughed. "No one is going to believe that." He tried to focus on something other than the food, knowing he could'nt eat more right now, he had to save it to last.
BUt he did find a glass and fill it with cool fresh water from the tap. It tasted clean and refreshing.

"Why not? Are you saying I'm not pretty enough to bag a model boy?" she teased, her eyes bright and happy as she grabbed handfuls of chips and then goldfish crackers, tearing open and sucking on hard candies. And the water, oh, she wanted the tap water too, and held a glass out to him.
