"Oh...we've each got spaces that are more ours than anyone else's and we respect closed doors for those spaces. But...we're household." He didn't know how to put it any other way.

And they all want you, right? All willing to wait, but not...just getting used to it, right? Matt asked with gentle concern, quiet enough that only Treacle could hear, and knowing he might be totally outraged. But Matt just didn't understand how it could all work.

"All want me, yes. It helps that they're willing to wait. Don't want to do anything until I'm not too thin, but...getting closer." He thought that maybe he'd do best to be with Jamie first, and his eyes wandered to where Jamie was chatting with Treacle Matt as he worked on his project.

Matt grinned teasingly at Toffee's happy tone and his spiking heartbeat, and said, what do you want them to do to you? Do they kiss you all the time until you can barely think?

"I want to feel as beautiful in just my skin as they tell me I am." He answered feeling wistful, cheeks heating.

Will after a while, Matt told him seriously. When you aren't so thin you feel stares, and when you listen and let them say beautiful without arguing. Only sometimes, but still, and when you let yourself, is so very good for you. Will grow. And flower.

"We're spending time with them undressing and holding me naked when I'm blindfolded." He whispered to Golubushka. "Helps me not think about how I look." And he couldn't stand to jut sit there right now,so he went to get his project bag. He was working on the sleeves of his lopapeysa now, two at a time using the magic loop technique.

(OOC: The wool he's using for this is quite rough so Golubushka won't like it)

Matt smiled at the idea, pleased by it though he really couldn't see the point for himself, and made a noise of pleased surprise when his soft project bag appeared from nowhere and was full of the soft goodness of his Foggy's sweater, he pulled it out with his smooth quiet needles and started to work on it, he was on the bottom bit with endless knit knit knit and some slipped on the sides, and he asked Toffee, what are you working on? Taking the hint of softer easier conversation.

"It's a sweater, there's a colourwork yoke and I'm going to do a bit of colourwork at the hem and cuffs. It's going to be really warm, and it should last quite a long time too."

Matt smiled at Toffee's easy confidence and pride in his work, and offered out his own sweater for examination, sweater for me too, making it for my Foggy, so he will be cozy-warm and happy, Matt said brightly, is all soft with silk and cashmere to be warm warm and smooth, and yarn person said is gray with tiny bits bright colors, to be cheerful, can I feel yours? He asked delicately.

"Of course. I'm knitting with Icelandic wool, so it's quite rough while I'm knitting." He warned as he offered his sweater over, taking hold of Golubushka's in return.

"This feels wonderful, and the flecks of colour give it extra interest."

Matt carefully pet it and then actually jumped at the feeling, scratching horribly at his hand and wincing at the itchy hands-on-fire that resulted, cringing and apologizing softly but needing to ferociously bury his hand in his own sweater and squeeze it with the other until the feeling went away, and murmured, what colors are using? Feels like would be warm and strong always.

"Warm and strong and gets a lot softer when you wash it." He agreed, taking it back. "And I'm using greens and blues for the sweater."

Matt struggled to think of things that weren't obvious but were blue and green, and guessed, like the sea, and seaweed? Or is more abstract? Just triangles and like? and then slowly set his fingers up to start and row and then, once the flick-flick was started, went fast and smooth with clacky wood.

"Abstract yes." He nodded as he began working on the sleeves. "Went for hexagons, the outlines not solid shapes. "Is your master doing okay? The cold isn't making his shoulder hurt too much is it?"

No, rain and snow hurts shoulder, but we keep warm with layers and I make warm tea and stews, make him cuddle me under blankets and comforters to keep cozy sleep. He also has scarf I made, just garter, but he says is nice and wraps under coat to keep shoulder and neck warm dry, Matt explained. And bake bread in the morning to make him eat enough. Is too cold to be going without.

"It's good that you're taking care of him." He smiled at Golubushka. "And garter makes a good fabric for scarves, thick and squishy and warm"

Matt nodded thoughtfully, and let there be quiet pleasant pausing until he asked, a little more delicately than normal, are still having feelings from before? How do the others handle fear, confusion?

"Still get scared sometimes." He agreed. "They're careful about things that trigger me, and they're learning the best ways to handle it when I'm scared. Always patient with me, and we're doing trust exercises. They've been encouraging me to speak up as well." They'd been so careful to make sure he had a say in everything since withdrawing him from his classes.

Matt hummed thoughtfully, not entirely convinced, but pleased that there were plans, things were better if not perfect, and he murmured, but it must be nice, having so much good house-sounds, little silence. Do things alone ever?

"Don't go out alone, not yet. But if I want alone time I just have to shut the door to my craft room." He explained softly.

But you aren't allowed out alone, Matt said, understanding and at the same time suddenly violently furious, angry at how stupid cruel unfair Toffee's life was, from one horrible cage to a gentler one, how he was never going to be free now and wouldn't even get close, and he had to suddenly excuse himself, apologize and choke down despairing screams and hurry to the bathroom to take deep breaths, and try to listen for the talking between strange-Danny and this Barba, and Matt knew how prosecutors tended to see jails as good things.

"D-do you think I did something to upset him?" He looked over to Treacle Matt, feeling anxious again.

"Not directly, but...you said you don't go out alone yet, is that because you don't want to right now?"

"Haven't wanted to go out alone yet, no." He agreed, moving over to Matt, looking at the yarn he was crocheting into a circle.

"I try to build a no into what I suggest to pets anyway, so I hadn't noticed Toffee's difficulty with that." He explained, chuckling ruefully. "Of course with very wary pets that can backfire, they can read the option to say no as a direction to say no."

Golubushka and Jamie: Visiting and Helping

Matt listened to them and started to calm a little bit, Barba sounded like he was at bare minimum familiar with how pets tended to feel about, well, life and social interactions, and while Matt simply never trusted anyone free to the deep degree they trusted each other, he could believe that this stiff and proper man liked Toffee like a favorite toy, like the best of jewels, like how fiercely and possessively the brothers had loved him. But Matt felt sick at his own acceptance, waves and waves of guilt and horror and how-could-you what's-wrong-with-you, he deserved better, all of them deserved better, and he retched and vomited in earnest.

Jamie looked over at Toffee. "Your friend said he was sick earlier, and he didn't eat much for lunch--he's probably just having a bit of an upset stomach," he rationalized gently for his pet-sib, who had a tendency to think anything going wrong was his fault. "I'll get him a ginger ale and offer him maybe pepto-bismol, if that works," he said softly, and got up, a bit nervous to leave Toffee alone with someone they barely knew, but Matt was incredibly unthreatening and wasn't the one acting oddly and speaking in a soft voice with confusing syntax.

He didn't comment directly on Jamie's conclusions, they weren't altogether wrong after all. In fact...

"He did seem like he might be tending towards a bad brain day earlier. But he wanted to meet you now that you're in your new household." He commented as he offered the circle he'd worked so far to Toffee to touch. He'd just started on the post stitch cabling he planned on incorporating.

"I'm using a big hook to make it go faster."
