Mod post

This post is for people who want to play more general roleplays, I'm leaving this unstructured, to play please comment with who you play (even if you think it should be obvious from your icon/username) and what sort of interaction you're looking for.

If someone wants more structure/to take over handling general roleplays please ask and I'll be happy to add at least one mod for this.

They do exist. They tend to be simpler than the average iPhone or android phone though, for obvious reasons.,

I found this from the RNIB, there's one there that says it was specifically designed for blind people, and it has info on the accessibility settings on other ones. But yeah I imagine having to rely on voice commands would be annoying. There are features on the iPhone like you can set it to read the text on the screen if you swipe down with two fingers, and it comes with VoiceOver, which is the screen reader software in the Mac, but a different version. The only issue is you'd have to get a sighted person to actually turn on the accessibility settings in the first place. Though and subsequent upgrades would just copy your settings across from the previous phone along with your contacts etc.

Apparently some Android phones (which I'm sure someone said Matt has) support refreshable Braille displays, which is cool, but he doesn't do that in the show that I've noticed, and apparently Android aren't the best.

Of course, that's now. Back in 2007 things were much less advanced.

With Matt's temper, I bet he's broken a few phones in the past by introducing them to the wall!

Good to know. Looks like apple supports the refreshable braille displays, too. (It's funny, you know how in New England, a lot of our cities and towns have English names... Reading the UK site and seeing names of places I live in/around - well, the NE version - kinda funny. LOL.)

I went to my local health food store today, after work, wearing my Pym Technologies shirt and the clerk noticed & asked me if I was going to see Civil War when it comes out... I'm like, it's already out? ... Nope. I blame you. :p Guess we don't get it until tomorrow...

LOL If my city were the English one we'd live less than two hours apart, travel-wise, by car. (And if you were in Hull, MA - it'd be just over 2 hrs. Weird.)
Edited (it's a city not a town. (both here and over there) Mine just feels like a town - well, a really, really big town. *shrugs*) Date: 2016-05-06 01:34 am (UTC)

I had no idea there was a Hull in MA. I knew there was one in Canada. I've just googled it and apparently there are 9 Hulls in the US. I wonder if they were named after this place or if it's a coincidence. My town's technically called Kingston Upon Hull though, Hull is the river it's built on, but nobody actually gives it its full name.

Honestly, I bet they're named for your Hull. (Not like I've done any research into it, but that's what my gut says. LOL.) A lot of towns here are named for places elsewhere. Heck, CT even has a Scotland. LOL. (I think the town I grew up in was named after some lord that gave us a bell. LOL. Well, there's probably more to it, but that's what I remember.)

Kingston Upon Hull is a mouthful. :) lol.

Oh, I imported my LJ to dreamwidth. While I was at it, I added you. We'll see if I actually update them, but I figured, why not? :)

Yeah, it is a mouthful. Literally nobody uses it. Apparently some king gave the city a royal charter (dunno what that means!) and the's why it's kingston (king's town) but I don't know. First I heard of that was during the 700 year anniversary of the city a few years ago. I feel like I should know more about local history really. I've had a nosy at Hull's wikipedia page and it says Hull in Quebec and MA are named after here. I guess the others got their names another way, or just got missed in the article.

I've added you back on dreamwidth :)

I'm going to try to write another bit of the story now, because I'm out tomorrow and at some work course on Monday. If I don't manage it now, I'll try and get it done in between all the stuff.

Oh - I added you to the livejournal, too. (Thought I already did that? I blame school. Almost at the finish line though. Can't wait for Thurs! Well, also a little nervous for Thurs, but what can you do. I'm sure it'll be fine.)

Oh so they do, cool. Didn't notice that. Thinking about it though, wonder how useful that would be. I mean, sure for reading text etc, browsing the internet etc, (but I;m sure that's be easier on a real computer, considering using the braille display would make the phone less portable anyway) but thing about touch screens is you have to touch it in the right place to make it do what you want it to. You touch to open your phonebook, you touch a person's name to call them. The braille display would allow a person to read what's on the screen, but wouldn't tell them exactly where on the screen to touch to make it do a certain function.

Maybe I'm wrong, this is pure guesswork.

Weird about release dates. When I was a kid we'd often not get new movies for months after the US release. Now they tend to be around the same time, maybe a day or two earlier or later sometimes, but a whole week earlier seems strange. It explains the lack of spoilers though. I didn't see it till the Tuesday after it came out on the Friday. I was sure I'd be dodging spoilers the whole time, I've only come across a few. It came out even earlier in some other parts of Europe. I don't get why they don't release things at the same time everywhere.

Yeah, it sounds as appealing as a sighted person using a bluetooth keyboard with the phone - but with some extra aggrivations inherently built into the phone. (Then again, I'm using one with my tablet right now. lol. But, the keyboard is also a protective case and tablets are bigger.)

Yeah, I don't get why they can't do simultaneous releases. My SO figures there's some movie the US distributer didn't want to compete with on opening night or something. (I haven't had time, anyway, so it's no loss to me. lol.) Maybe I'll have time this weekend. Depends on how my final group project is looking.

Well to be fair I sometimes do use my keyboard with my phone. Not often, but it can be handy if you get writing something and it turns long. It's mostly for my tablet though.

Could be that, but I don't think there are any other movies out that would be competition for Captain America. A google search suggests they release it elsewhere first to build up hype in the US, and that announcing how much it had made elsewhere does that. This makes no sense to me, but I know very little about marketing! Also something about assessing the reaction so they can make changes if necessary? But this can't be that, no way they could do it that fast.

Maybe they were just waiting for you to be less busy :-)

Yeah, that's it. :) They were just waiting for a break in my busy schedule so I wouldn't miss the premiere weekend... LOL
