He smiled brightly and hugged Foggy before heading back to the bedroom to find the colored lipgloss that Matt had bought for him and applying it.

Matt followed Dove through, changing his shirt for the embroidered silk shirt Foggy had picked out for him...he ran his fingers over the pattern to check the colour - dark tuquoise. And then he followed Dove's example, putting on one of his more neutral lipsticks.

He sat on the bed listening to Matt get ready. "Are there any special rules to follow where we're going?"

"They're pet friendly, but not set up for pets to kneel usually." Matt explained, dotting on a touch more cologne, and offering a dab to Dove it he wanted.

He tilted his head to the side for Matt to mark him with the cologne, enjoying the smell.

And enjoying that he smelled like his protector.

Then Matt carefully tugged Dove out to give Foggy space to get changed.

He followed Matt out to the living room. "How do you mean pet-friendly?" he asked further. "What are places like that aren't pet-friendly?" he asked, knowing Matt and Foggy well enough to know they wouldn't have ever taking him somewhere like that.

"Places that aren't pet friendly, for instance don't have policies against allowing customers to harass pets, or require pets to wait until all free people have been served. Or refuse to provide kneelers if asked."

"And pet friendly, means they treat us just like anyone else?" he asked.

"Pretty much, yes." Matt nodded with a soft smile.

Dove: Dove, Feral, their Foggy: Night out

He suspects that even the non-pet-friendly are far superior to the treatment he recieved as a ward anywhere where he came from.

But he and Matt have a moment and he steps in close, wrapping his arms around Matt's waist and hugging against him.

"It felt really good to do a whole routine in gymnastics again, but it will feel even better when Instructor Hart trusts me again. I know part of it is training, he wants me to learn how to be a better competition pet and so he has to teach me the proper way to behave in competition. But it used to feel less formal." he confessed quietly.

"And you miss that." But there was nothing Matt could do about that, so he just returned Dove's hug, keeping him close.

He nods, "I do, do you think if I try very hard and be very obedient from now on that he'll forgive me and start to trust me again?" he asks. And he knows even if Instructor Hart doesn't forgive him, he's still grateful for the opportunity to train in gymnastics.

"I think that he'll get less formal as he starts to believe that you won't push yourself too hard again. He's not stupid the way your overseers at the Centre were, he knows that it's better to keep you healthy and let you grow at a sustainable rate."

Dove sighs and steps back. "No, he hasn't ever treated me like that. I know he doesn't take any pleasure in seeing me fail. I'm sorry, I don't mean to burden you with things that don't matter."

"Oh, sweetheart, I don't mind. It's something that upsets you, and it matters to you, that means it matters to me."

But he knew the stress Matt was under and didnt want to add to it, and so promised himself he would try to do better and be moe supportive and positive.

And then Foggy was done getting dressed.

He hugged Dove and kissed him on the forehead, then kissed Matt on the cheek before pulling out a jacket for Dove.

He put on the jacket Foggy chose for him and waited by the door.

He was very excited for the outing, feeling like it was a huge reward to him just to be taken out anywhere, and all the things that went with it- being dressed up in the clothes chosen for him, everything, just added to the specialness of it.

And he helped Foggy into his jacket, before Foggy returned the favour.

"We've got a cab booked for about ten minutes from now."

Dove went over anything last minute that might need to be done but couldn't think of anything, and so he asked, just incase.

"Do you want me to do something before we go?"

"No sweetheart, you've got everything done, and we can go now. I just wanted to let you know that we might be waiting in the lobby for a bit."

He took Matt's elbow and settled in at his side. He didn't understand why Matt wanted to warn him, he was more than happy to tag along anywhere he was led. But he did like that Matt thought him important enough to share their plans with.

And Matt kept Dove close as they made they're way to the lobby.
